This will sound stupid because she was/is beloved by everyone, but I think Monroe is underrated as an actress. Especially in comedy, but also in drama. She was great in Misfits.
People love her for her persona, but I don’t think she gets enough credit for her acting.
I feel exactly the same way. She was an extremely talented actress with exquisite comic timing in her comedies and amazing breadth in her dramas. Have you seen Bus Stop? She’s devastating in that.
Yes, I didn’t care for Bus Stop the first time I saw it. I thought Don Murray brought the film down, but on repeat viewing, Monroe makes it all work anyway. That’s how good she is.
How delightfully efficient of you to team up one of my favorite character actresses, Norma Varden, with the winsome Marilyn Monroe in one of their funniest movies! Good going, Cinemafanatic!
