Joan Crawford, Indies and Docs: March 2014 in Films

March was a pretty good month. I picked up from last month and managed to watch just slightly more than a film a day, so everything feels much more normal. I also saw a lot of great new and rep releases in theaters during the month – and coming up in just over a week is the TCM Film Festival! That’s going to be fabulous, as it always is. I continued with Female Filmmaker Friday, and I hope y’all have been enjoying reading that feature as much as I have enjoyed writing it. I’ve also watch A LOT of Joan Crawford movies. I didn’t make it through all of the ones I brought home from work to watch (still have six more!), but my total for Miss Crawford is now up to 51 movies! I’m gonna do what I can to see the rest by the end of the year. Wish me luck! Anyways, as always, the full list of what I watched is after the cut, as well as a few stand out favorites.

More Lady Directors, Van Heflin and New Releases: February 2014 in Films

This is the first month in about four years that I didn’t manage to watch the equivalent of a new-to-me movie a day! I did, however, watch several movies I love for the first time on the big screen – including Je t’aime je t’aime at The Cinefamily and if you are in L.A. you gotta go see it! Maybe I’ll make up for this month next month. I don’t know. Regardless, I saw some great film (and some truly awful films) in February, a breakdown of which you can see after the cut.

Lady Directors, Aidan Quinn and Oscar Contenders: January 2014 in Films

Forgive me for posting this a day late. Somehow I totally forgot it was February until I realized today is Groundhog Day and I still haven’t watched Groundhog Day. Needless to say, I will be watching Groundhog Day soon. This month’s round up will be pretty brief. I’ve been trying to watch more movies directed by ladies and I’ve done a pretty stellar job of it (though I could be watching more!) and I’ve started a new feature called Female Filmmaker Friday that I hope you all enjoy. As always, after the cut you can read what I’ve been watching, as well as a few featured films.
