More Lady Directors, Van Heflin and New Releases: February 2014 in Films

This is the first month in about four years that I didn’t manage to watch the equivalent of a new-to-me movie a day! I did, however, watch several movies I love for the first time on the big screen – including Je t’aime je t’aime at The Cinefamily and if you are in L.A. you gotta go see it! Maybe I’ll make up for this month next month. I don’t know. Regardless, I saw some great film (and some truly awful films) in February, a breakdown of which you can see after the cut.

Henry Taggart: Black coffee.
Albert Van Maaster: And?
Henry Taggart: And hurry!
Albert Van Maaster: What about your lunch?
Henry Taggart: What about my coffee?
Albert Van Maaster: Well, coffee’s no lunch! Coffee contains no calories, no nourishment. . .
Henry Taggart: That’s right, and I want a large cup of it!

Jeff Hartnett: I seem to have offended your light of love by using a polysyllabic word.
Johnny Eager: You’re drunk.
Jeff Hartnett: Now, Eager. . .that’s. . .obvious. Very obvious. Don’t be obvious. You’re out of character when you’re obvious. Adroitness is your racket. Hard, clever and. . .adroit. That’s your description.
Johnny Eager: Oh, now not again, Jeff.
Jeff Hartnett: Just because I’ve said it before, doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Eager, you’re. . .a man. . .you shouldn’t be obvious. Observed, analyzed and recorded for history because you’re unique. Absolutely unique!
Johnny Eager: Here we go again, kids.
