Apologies for the delay on this post. My computer died at the end of December so this post as well as my end of the year wrap-up and my Favorite Fifteen Films of 2020 were delayed. If you follow me on social, you probably saw that I left my job at the beginning of December as well, so this month threw me for a bit of a loop. As always though, you will find everything I watched in December, a breakdown by decade, and a few favorites after the cut.
Sorry this is a few days late! I was out-of-town all week for my 6th TCM Classic Film Festival – my first as part of #TCMHQ! I had a blast! Although I only saw two films (when I usually see 15 to 17), I got to see one of my all time favorite films The Endless Summer (and met director Bruce Brown!), as well as Rocky (which is always great on the big screen). I also finally met Serge Bromberg from Lobster Films! It was a great fest. As always, a list of everything I watched in April – plus a few favorites – can be found after the cut.
Jane Eyre: Why do you confide in me like this? What are you and she to me? Do you think that because I am poor and plain, I have no feelings? I promise you, if God had gifted me wealth and beauty, I should make it as hard for you to leave me now as it is for me to leave you. But He did not. Yet, my spirit can address yours as if both had passed through the grave and stood before Him equal
Mr. Rochester: Jane.
Jane Eyre: Let me go, sir.
Mr. Rochester: I love you. I love you!
Jane Eyre: Please, don’t make me foolish.
Mr. Rochester: Foolish? I need you. What is Blanche to me? I know what I am to her. Money to manure her father’s lands with. Marry me, Jane, say you’ll marry me.
Jane Eyre: You mean it?
Mr. Rochester: You torture me with your doubts. Say yes. Say yes.
Joe: Wadda you feel like doing, Angie?
Angie: I don’t know. Wadda you feel like doing?
Joe: I don’t know. George what are you doing tonight?
Marty: “What are you doing tonight?”… “I don’t know, what are you doing?!” The burlesque! Loew’s Paradise! Miserable and lonely! Miserable and lonely and stupid! What am I, crazy or something?! I got something good here! What am I hanging around with you guys for?! [walks away]
Angie: Watsa, Marty? Watsa matter with you?
Marty: You don’t like her. My mother don’t like her. She’s a dog, and I’m a fat, ugly little man. Well, all I know is I hadda good time last night. I’m gonna have a good time tonight. If we have enough good times together, I’m gonna go down on my knees and I’m gonna beg that girl to marry me. If we make a party again this New Year’s, I gotta date for the party. You don’t like her, that’s too bad.
