New Poster For “The Company Men”
Love this poster. It’s a nice homage to the poster for 1992’s Glengarry Glen Ross (which I still haven’t seen!). The Company Men is written and directed by John Wells, of E.R. and The West Wing fame. It’s set to be released by the Weinstein Company on October 22nd.
Trailer for Colin Firth’s “The King’s Speech”
The film recently won the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. This film looks really lush. Danny Cohen’s cinematography looks like it could be a real contender at the Oscars this year, not to mention the costume design and set decoration. Just from the trailer alone it looks like Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush are both locks for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor nominations, respectively. I’m so glad Firth is finally getting to do films that are worthy of his talent.

Miramax Offices Close – The End of An Era
I hear on the grapevine though that the Weinsteins, who were bought out of Miramax years ago and started their own company – The Weinstein Company, are still trying to get the name back. I hope they do.
All through the 90s and early 00s Miramax, under the Weinsteins, pretty much dominated the Academy Awards.
