New Trailer For Woody Allen’s “Midnight In Paris”
Loved this trailer. I like how the Owen Wilson character is clearly the one Allen himself would usually play when he was younger (just look at his costume!) Michael Sheen being a prick? Yes, please. I am just too excited for this film.

Some Love For Some Stylish Bloggers
Kendra over at Viv and Larry so graciously tagged me for a Stylish Blogger award. If you’ve never been over to her site, you owe yourself a look. She’s one of the most knowledgable classic film fans on the netz.
The rules state that I must list 7 facts about me and then pass the award on to 7 other stylish blogs. So first, here are seven things about me:
- I studied Comparative Literature in college, but in the three years since I’ve graduated I’ve only read about 10 books. I think I burned out, reading 4-5 books a week for four years.
- I might be going back to grad school soon. This time working towards an MFA in screenwriting. More on that as it develops.
- I personally own three cats: Mr. Rochester, Mr. Bingley an Lady Brett Ashley.
- Although I’m rather well known now as a classic film fan, I only started really getting into classic film last fall. I blame TCM’s Summer Under the Stars.
- I wish I had the means to travel more. I went to Scotland and England when I was 13 and France when I was 22. Someday I’d like to visit Greece and Brazil (and, well, everywhere else, too.)
- I am a big fan of guilty pleasure type films. Anyone who can’t get past themselves long enough to have a guilty pleasure film or two is really missing out.
- So far this year I’ve only seen one 2011 release.

Oscar Vault Monday – Atonement, 2007 (dir. Joe Wright)
I remember seeing the trailer for this movie and feeling compelled to read the book because it just looked so utterly fantastic. The book is now one of my favorites (all of the other Ian McEwan books I’ve read I thoroughly hated). I guess part of what I loved about the book was imagining the characters the way they were in the trailer. So when it came for the film to actually open I was so full of apprehension; would it live up to the book? or at the very least to the promise of its trailer? Rest assured, I did not feel let down. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards, winning one: Best Score (won), Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Supporting Actress Saoirse Ronan, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Picture. The other films up for Best Picture that year were: Juno, Michael Clayton, There Will Be Blood and winner No Country For Old Men.

RIP Dame Elizabeth Taylor
I can’t remember life without Elizabeth Taylor. I’ve always loved her. I think for the longest time it was mostly because we both had brown hair and blue eyes (it’s amazing how powerful that kind of connection can be when you are six years old). Over the last year or so I have seen about 9 of her films (prior to that I think I’d seen five others) and I’ve grown to appreciate her talent. She was an amazing woman on and off the screen and she will be sorely missed.
